It was a beautiful morning for our second Best Friends 5K! Thanks to all the runners, volunteers, vendors and our pint glass providers at Squatters Craft Beer for making this a hugely successful event. Join us for a timed 5K fun run with (or without) your dogs on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from Capitol Hill through Memory Grove to help homeless pets right here in Utah. Proceeds benefit the animals at Best Friends Animal Society! Online registration is closed, but you can register in person at the Lifesaving Center (2005 S 1100 E) in Sugar House from 4pm to 7pm on Friday, May 18, or at the start line (intersection of Bonneville Blvd and East Capitol Boulevard at 500 North) beginning at 8am on Saturday, May 19.
Best Friends 5K Fun Run/Walk
Date: Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 9 a.m.
Location: Bonneville Boulevard and Memory Grove
Registration: $40 at pre-race pickup or on-site for all ages. Proceeds benefit the animals at Best Friends Animal Society, and registration fee includes up to two dogs per person.
Packet pickup: Advance packet pick-up and registration is available on Friday, May 18, from 4pm to 7pm at the Pet Adoption Center (2005 S 1100 E) in Sugar House. On-site registration and packet pickup will open at 8am on race day at the starting line (intersection of Bonneville Blvd and East Capitol Boulevard at 500 North).
All ages and fitness levels welcome. Dogs encouraged but not required! (Strollers allowed, but please start at the back.)
Registration goodies: The first 300 adult (13+) human registrants will also receive a Best Friends pint glass courtesy of Squatters/Wasatch Brewery. The first 150 canine registrants receive a race medal/dog tag! (Dog tag will include 2018 date and logo.) NOTE: Dog tags are sold out!
Course description: The timed 3.1 mile run/walk starts at the intersection of Bonneville Blvd and East Capitol Boulevard at 500 North. Participants run or walk on Bonneville Blvd to the top of 11th Avenue at the corner of B Street, then turn around and proceed back down Bonneville Blvd. At the far north curve of Bonneville Blvd, participants will turn down Canyon Road and follow it into Memory Grove Park. Volunteers and signage will be there help guide you.
Water: Water will be provided on the course and at the finish line for people and dogs.
Course support: Volunteers and staff will be available for guidance and assistance. Spectators are welcome at the finish line area in Memory Grove!
